Reducing your business’s impact on the environment is becoming less of a choice and more of an obligation. Governments across EMEA are pledging new commitments to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
- The Paris agreement, an international climate change treaty, aims to reduce GHG emissions by 43% by 2030
- European Climate Law aims for Europe’s economy and society to be climate-neutral by 2050. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has introduced regulations for the state that would require a transition to zero-emission forklifts by 2038 and a transition to zero-emission cargo handling equipment beginning in 2026 with 90% penetration by 2036
- A new law will make it a requirement that new heavy-duty vehicles sold in the EU from 2040 are emissions free, with regulation dictating that emissions must also be cut by 90% ahead of 2040
- Stage V emissions standards are already in full force across the EU, EEA, and UK, limiting the permitted emissions from diesel engines used in industrial trucks.
