Hyster® to Showcase Integrated Lithium-Ion Solutions at TOC Europe

Hyster is to showcase the various power solutions available for high-capacity equipment at stand G20 at TOC Europe 2024 from 11th – 13th June, including integrated lithium-ion power technology for high-capacity forklifts.

“Ports and terminals face increasing pressure to electrify, as they not only must meet throughput and productivity goals but sustainability targets, all with an eye towards tomorrow’s impact,” says Lucien Robroek, President Technology Solutions for Hyster. “Hyster® high-capacity electric equipment uses tried and tested designs alongside the benefits of an electric powertrain to help operations maintain high performance, but with zero tailpipe emissions, bringing clean power that means business to ports and terminal operations.”

With capacity up to 18 tonnes, Hyster high-capacity electric forklifts feature an integrated lithium-ion battery that can be opportunity charged during operator breaks. This helps maximise operational uptime, with no adverse effect on battery life.

Hyster is focused on helping customers obtain the right clean power solution for their high-capacity forklifts and container handling equipment. This approach helps operations to meet emissions reduction targets, even in applications where electrification might not have seemed possible before.

Hyster already has pilot projects underway including a hydrogen fuel cell-powered Laden Container Handler in the Port of Los Angeles and a hydrogen fuel cell powered ReachStacker in the Port of Valencia Spain. Additionally, Hyster has planned pilots for 10 zero-emission battery electric terminal tractors for APM Terminals and a hydrogen fuel cell powered empty container handler and terminal tractor at Hamburger Hafen und Logistik. Hyster also provides a HVO 100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) option for some diesel equipment to enable significant emissions reductions for those starting the journey towards port electrification.

Niek Willems, Leader of Business Development, Global Ports and Terminals for Hyster, will discuss these topics and more in a speaker session in the TECH TOC theatre on Tuesday 11th June at 16.30, titled ‘Tackling the Challenges of Net Zero Equipment and Infrastructure.”
